As a small child, I used to lose myself entirely in the search for the chickweed that served as feed for our chickens. Looking back, this was perhaps the beginning of my interest in plants. And now, with a different aim in mind, I am a person who continues to search unceasingly for plants and nature.
This is just my own subjective viewpoint, but as fellow comrades on this Earth, I would like plants to feel that we are giving them something. I would like to say to them, ‘Look! This way you can give full expression to a beauty or a single-mindedness that is never seen in the world of nature alone.’
And then, when this wish reaches the plants themselves, they release a miraculous light. I want to continue to share this sight with many people and remain deeply moved.
This is the foundation of my creation as a “messenger of flowers.” I firmly believe that it is a way of repaying my debt to nature.
Going forward, I will cherish each precious, one-in-seven-billion encounter with all of you, further evolving my work. Nothing would bring me greater happiness than being able to express my gratitude to all living things.
