The Great Honorable Sun

This weekend I was blessed, for the first time in a while, with calm, cloudless fine weather. The temperature was a balmy 26 degrees, so I aired out the futons that had grown damp through the run of muggy weather.

A futon that has basked abundantly in the sun’s rays, unlike one put through a dryer, carries the scent of the sun’s energy, feels good to the touch, and is plump and pleasant. What’s more, the depth of sleep it brings is no small thing. It’s a finish that lets me feel anew how great the sun is. Lately, with the ultraviolet-ray issue, it seems more people are living so as to avoid the sun; but for me, basking in the sun in moderation is the single most important act for living in good health—so I learn from airing the futons.
