Since We Were Born on This Earth… 2020
Lately, I often catch sight of the word “sustainable.”
Carrying the meaning of “Earth’s resources; the making of a sustainable environment,” it is a mindset important to our present age.
Feeling the crisis of the Earth’s survival, companies, reflecting the will of the people, have begun to raise as slogans the elimination of disposable goods and non-renewable materials.
You could call it the price paid for the fact that, for long years, humans have reigned at the top of the food chain on Earth, using the planet’s resources as a mere convenience with no thought for the consequences.
In truth, I too am one who has used them to the hilt.
Put simply, it must mean that only by the Earth we live on being healthy can our own lives be kept healthy, too.
For that, unless we start from thinking about making things not from a human-first stance but from a “life-first” stance—the stance of every living thing that breathes on this Earth—and from holding a humble gratitude that we are kept alive by the Earth, then even the idea of “sustainable” may end up as mere lip service over true intent—so I muttered in my heart.
