Zipangu, the Land of Water

Though there are more countries where you can’t drink the water once you cross the sea, Japan is a water-rich country where you can drink tap water anywhere in the land.

Since 70% of the human body is made of water, water is the most precious and necessary source of life for every living thing to go on living.

I even feel that the presence of this abundant water welling up so equally has nurtured, in the Japanese—flexible, gentle-hearted, humble people with no single strong faith, who can put their hands together in gratitude to all good things and creatures—the heart of “hospitality, care, sharing, and yielding.”

Although the food and environment that grow in one’s country ought to sit best with the creatures born there, it is a mystery to me that Japan is now the largest importer of drinking water.

So, is it going too far to think that the spirit the Japanese have originally held dear has been fading of late?
