Thoughts Fit for the Year of the Dog
Around my home, construction has begun to remove the utility poles and bury the power lines underground.
Quite unlike before, the road will become spacious—an open and pleasant environment.
But there may be a creature lamenting this improvement as “unbearable.”
The male dog. On their morning and evening walks, they’ve been peeing to leave their scent on the utility poles; do it on someone’s wall, gate, or garbage spot and they get scolded—so when the poles are gone, they’ll surely taste the bitter distress of where on earth to go.
In these days when more people keep pets as members of the family, it is precisely by thinking about creating an environment where all living things can live happily that we humans, too, can reach a happy feeling.
