A Hymn to Color

Flower that jumped out of kimono/KEITA + Itchiku Kubota

A work on the theme of the “joy of color” we learn from the natural world — colors rooted in the earth, light descending from the heavens. By making one the “beauty of nature” alive within “Itchiku Tsujigahana” and the plants themselves, I created a lustrous, dreamlike landscape. The delicate shades that grasses and trees keep quietly hidden: paying my respects to the eye of Itchiku Kubota, who enjoyed that richness with complete freedom, I have expressed my gratitude for the many colors that plants possess.
