Life, Only Where There Is Light

People are drawn, always and inevitably, toward the light. The andon and chochin lanterns refined in the Edo period cast their glow into the pitch-black dark, and thanks to them people could pass even the night with a quiet heart. Plants, too, are beings that love light. In sunlight and in moonlight, they celebrate their lives. To these plants, who love light above all else, let us offer here a lamplight warmed by human hands. And let us gather — people and plants together — beneath the light that is the source of life.
